The Salinas Grandes is a 3,200 mi² salt desert in northern Argentina, a place with unforgiving temperatures and extreme conditions. What better location to test the limits of the Red Bull Racing RB7 and its team, with driver Daniel Ricciardo at the helm.

Ramparanoia 2012

Ben Hennon won Red Bull Ramparanoia, the BMX competition held in the Campo de Piedra Pomez (Pumice field), located in Catamarca, Argentina, 4000 meters above sea level. The riders were forced to adapt to the demanding elevation and heat, trying to ride a bike on a surface that had never been explored by a BMX athlete before.

Gigantes de Sal

En Argentina, en la provincia de Jujuy,  a más de 3.300 metros de altura, se encuentran las Salinas grandes, donde comunidades locales desarrollan la extracción de sal como lo hacían en épocas prehispánicas.

A pesar de los adelantos tecnológicos  del siglo 21, estas comunidades utilizan los mismos métodos artesanales que usaron sus antepasados incaicos para la extracción. 

Solo el material de sus picos y palas ha cambiado en tantos años, las cuales dejaron de ser de piedra para ser metálicas.

In Argentina, in Jujuy province, to over 3,300 meters high, are the "Salinas Grandes", where local communities extract salt as they did in pre-Hispanic times.

Despite the technological advances of the 21st century, these communities use the same methods they used for extraction Inca ancestors. 

Only the material of their picks and shovels has changed in many years, which were no longer of stone to be metallic.
